Hi L,
Sorry about my English. Sometimes I put it into Google Translate, but I know that the sound of the words and the meaning are not always the best.
Well, now you know how a big and beautiful story scratches my soul. And my entire stay in California was surrounded by memories and inspiration.
I love writing! Then...
I'd like you to listen to Keith Jarrett while you read, please. That's exactly the way the words came to me.
"Sometimes, we think that if something feels right, it has to be said.
Whatever comes next, we tell ourselves: "doesn't matter".
That's the beauty of age...
Besides my lack of colorful vocabulary in English, you already know that it goes beyond translation, beyond our bodies, beyond nations...
beside the sound. The sound of keyboards, the sound of chords, unpredictable chords, like improvised notes, like Keith Jarrett... We just don't know where life is going, whether it's right or wrong, but it's beautiful... It sounds good!!!
I think that's exactly what happens when I meet you.
When I first met your eyes in the operating room thirty years ago.
at the beach in Ubatuba, watching the sea by your side,
at ARVO, when you took me to an incredible and unforgettable evening...
Maybe I was too young for you, but... maybe not
I love wondering what would have happened if I hadn't been too young for you.
Would we have spent such beautiful nights listening to jazz sessions in LA clubs? SF clubs? Or tasting a good wine under the stars of San Francisco, on that amazing terrace?
Or maybe, walking through the streets, following the sound of beautiful, unpredictable chords, we would have stumbled upon an open door, with the best empty table in the bar, waiting for us.
Then I could have thought how lucky we were... and looked at you and realized that, in your eyes, yes, I was incredibly lucky!!!
Perhaps that is what makes these memories so beautiful: not knowing what might have been, and still being able to imagine it all.
All these feelings in one measure at a time, without knowing the next chord or even the whole melody of the song
Not asking for the next note
Not needing to know how the music would end.
A beautiful, atemporal and infinite measure.
This is the sound of Keith Jarrett"
With love beyond nations, age, or even life
C
